COVID Diaries: Successful laparoscopic (key hole) surgery for stomach cancer following neoadjuvant chemotherapy (chemotherapy given before surgery). even large tumours can be removed with laparoscopic techniques. Small incisions help reduce pain and later wound related complications including infections and hernia. Addition of preoperative chemotherapy results in good outcomes in these patients. Laparoscopic surgery leads to a quick and better recovery with a shorter hospital stay and restoration to normal activities. Pictures courtesy Dr Neha Sharma.
