Successful removal of a large teratoma in a young patient

Pictures show the CT images and removed large tumour located in a difficult location around the celiac trunk and superior mesenteric arteries (arteries supplying blood to upper GI tract and entire small intestine) behind the pancreas. Teratomas are rare tumours which are congenital in origin and often attain large sizes. These are non-cancerous tumours but often cause symptoms due to mass effect. Surgery remains the mainstay of treatment with excellent long-term outcomes.
